Cell Phone Policy
Centreville High School Cell Phone Policy 2024-2025
In alignment with FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities, the Centreville High School cell phone policy is:
- Cell phones may be used on campus before the first bell, after the last bell, during passing periods, and lunches.
- Cell phones, earbuds, and headphones should be silenced and put away during instructional blocks. All teachers will ask students to put their cell phones in the classroom cell phone caddy. Alternatively, phones can be stored in a locker or backpack during the day but must be silenced and may not be visible during the instructional block.
- When leaving the classroom on a hall pass, students may not take their cell phones; cell phone use is prohibited in restrooms. If a student is found using their cell phone during instructional time, students will face disciplinary action.
If a student has difficulty adhering to this school-wide policy, the teacher will take the following steps:
Teacher Response | |
First Infraction | Teacher will privately converse with the student in the hallway or after class and communicate with family. |
Second and Subsequent Infractions | Teacher will refer the student to their assigned administrator and communicate with the family. |
Administrator Response | |
First Referral | Administrator will meet with the student and communicate with the family. |
Second Referral | Administrator will meet with the student, communicate with family, and assign after school detention. |
Third Referral | Administrator will meet with the student, communicate with family, and confiscate cell phone for two school days. |
Fourth Referral | Administrator will meet with the student, communicate with family, assign one full day of In-School Suspension (ISS), and confiscate cell phone for five school days. |
