Freshmen Mentoring Program

Freshmen Mentoring Program

The Wildcat Mentors are a group of roughly 170 students (11th and 12th grade) that are selected through an application process during the previous school year to become peer mentors for 9th grade and ELL level 1-2 students during ROAR (Homeroom)

Their goal is to foster a sense of community and belongingness at CVHS and assist in the development of skills to help 9th grade students have a successful transition into high school.

We hope by assigning every 9th grade student a mentor, that they will develop connections with the student body and have a positive role model.

Mentoring program for 9th grade students/ ESOL students new to CVHS

  • 9th grade and ESOL homerooms have 11th/12th grade mentors about once a month working with their homeroom students. The mentors are trained prior to the lesson and bring the lesson to the students. The Homeroom teacher simply supervises/facilitates as necessary.
  • ROAR and Mentor teams work together to follow monthly themes for the SEL curriculum year
